Project description

At United Cloud, we partnered with EON to redefine their digital streaming experience across platforms. The goal was to transition from a traditional broadcast-oriented interface to a modern, user-centric experience—one that leverages content recommendations and personalization to help users quickly find what they want and enjoy seamless browsing.

Problem Statement

The legacy TV3 platform was functional but lacked modern usability features such as smart recommendations, intuitive discovery paths, and streamlined navigation. Users often had to browse manually or rely on linear menus, which led to frustration and disengagement.

Our challenge was to reshape the platform to be intuitive, adaptive, and content-forward, encouraging users to explore more and return frequently.

Objectives

Deliver a modern, cohesive user experience across multiple platforms (web, mobile, STB).

  • Enable users to easily discover content through personalized recommendations and relevant categories.

  • Build a scalable design system to unify visual and interaction patterns.

  • Ensure accessibility and usability across multiple languages and regions.

Process

Process

Process

Understand user needs, motivations, and challenges regarding content recommendation. Also, gather insights on how users interact with different features in competitor apps.

Research & Planning

We started by gathering insights through:

  • User interviews with current platform users to understand pain points

  • Analyzing platform analytics to find drop-off points

  • Studying competitor platforms like Netflix, HBO Max, and regional players to benchmark features

  • Mapping out user journeys and frustrations with current navigation

Key Insight: Users wanted faster content access and more personalized content without excessive navigation.

Ideation

From research, we identified key opportunity areas:

  • Personalized home screen

  • Improved search with predictive results

  • Browsing by genres, moods, and trending topics

  • Multi-language support with adaptive layout and content tagging

We ran multiple ideation workshops to sketch out concepts and map solutions.

Prototyping

Using Figma, we developed low- to high-fidelity prototypes that covered:

  • A dynamic homepage driven by content relevance

  • A modular, responsive design that adapted across STB, web, and mobile

  • A redesigned player experience with better control UI and episode management

  • User onboarding flow to collect viewing preferences

Testing

We conducted remote usability testing with participants from various language backgrounds to validate:

  • Ease of navigation

  • Clarity of content presentation

  • Effectiveness of content recommendations

  • Language switching behavior

Findings: The personalized homepage reduced time to content by 40%. Users appreciated the clarity and structure of content sections.
